Description

The Architecture(s) of Transition is a project focused on South Asia and initiated by the Graduate School of Design, Laxmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute, the South Asia GSD Student Group, and supported by Architecture Foundation, India. The project components include a lecture series, conference, traveling exhibition, and two books documenting the research and conversations that emerge from this larger research project.

The first volume, Architectures of Transition: Emergent Practices in South Asia, focuses on emerging practices and grew out of a lecture series held between March 2022 and March 2023, which brought together many of the young practices featured in the book.

The second volume, Architectures of Transition: Frameworks and Practices in South Asia, stems from the Architectures of Transition conference held in New Delhi in December 2023. It captures discussions on architectural agency through the perspectives of long-standing practices with diverse approaches.

The former, a reflection on his practice, evolved through its association with the city of Bombay/Mumbai.
