Description

The book explains the architectural project of the Espai Cràter museum in Olot (Catalonia, Spain). The new museum is built on an ancient dormant volcano near the town centre. This underground building frees up a large area of land that will be a new park. The outside of the building is only visible from its two facing entrances which create a walkway that crosses the interior of the building, built with materials from the volcanic landscape. The building forms part of the experience of visitors who see the volcano as their host. The new park is conceived as a natural beech forest, illuminated at night by tree lamps that simulate the flight of fireflies.
